Well, we went to the doctor this morning and the big news is that there’s no news. Still 1 cm dilated, still partially effaced. The baby has dropped a little though. So there’s that.
Right now we’re waiting on a call that may or may not come from labor & delivery saying that they have room for us today. If they do, then we’ll go in and try a gentle induction – meaning a Cytotec (Misoprostol) pill would be inserted you-know-where and allowed to dissolve which would hopefully help my cervix dilate. (Apparently it’s an ulcer medication that was discovered to open things up. Handy.) This is a process that may or may not work. So we’re waiting for a call that might not come about doing a procedure that might not work. Hmph.
The upside about this kind of “induction” (I use quotes because it’s not certain) is that if it doesn’t work… no harm done. I just go home. And keep waiting.
If it doesn’t happen, or it doesn’t work, then the doc will schedule me for an actual induction next Monday or Tuesday. But, just my luck, she’ll be on vacation. Oh well. I’m sure the other OBs there are just as qualified. And it’s not like the doctor him/herself will actually spend much time in with us anyway, right?
